Apple Inc. announced today that after more than six weeks of testing, iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 have officially been released to the public. Among these, the iOS 18.2 version has garnered significant attention from users due to the introduction of the new Apple Intelligence feature, which currently supports the iPhone 15 Pro series and iPhone 16 series.

The iOS 18.2 version allows users to create custom Genmoji emojis, includes an app called Playground that can generate images, and integrates ChatGPT's intelligent voice assistant, Siri. Previously, at WWDC 2024, Apple announced a partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into Siri. This collaboration enables Apple users to use ChatGPT for free without creating an account. With user consent, Siri can call ChatGPT, sending user requests to it and generating responses, such as recipe suggestions.

An Apple representative stated that the company may increase support for other AI models in the future, with reports suggesting that Apple has discussed a partnership with Google to integrate the Gemini large model.

Additionally, Apple announced that Apple Intelligence is beginning to expand language support, adding localized English for Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK. Apple also plans to gradually roll out support for more languages over the next year, including Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese, with the first batch of language support set to be released in April 2025 as part of a software update.

For users of the domestic version in China, there are reports that Baidu may provide AI support for the domestic version of the iPhone, meaning that Siri on these devices may also integrate Baidu's AI model to offer better search results. Apple has stated that they are actively promoting the review of Apple Intelligence in China and collaborating with domestic partners, hoping to allow domestic users to experience Apple Intelligence directly in April.
