Meta is investing $10 billion to build a large artificial intelligence data center in Richland Parish, Louisiana. This data center will be the largest of Meta's 20 data centers and is expected to begin construction this month, continuing until 2030.
It will be optimized to support Meta's AI workloads and contribute to the advanced infrastructure that supports Meta's technologies, including Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads.
Meta has committed to using 100% clean renewable energy to meet its power needs and will collaborate with Entergy to bring at least 1,500 megawatts of new renewable energy to the grid through its Geaux Zero program. Meta has also pledged to donate up to $1 million annually to Entergy's support program for low-income taxpayers and invest over $200 million to improve local infrastructure.
This project will stimulate economic growth in the region, allowing multiple industries to benefit from the billions of dollars invested by Meta, and create future high-paying job opportunities for workers in Louisiana. According to the Louisiana Economic Development Department, this project is one of the largest private capital investments in the state's history. Officials state that the project will revitalize the local economy and create new job opportunities for workers in Louisiana.
