Tech giants Google and Samsung recently launched the next generation of mixed reality headsets and smart AI glasses. These devices not only feature significant hardware upgrades but are also deeply integrated with Google's latest Gemini AI model, showcasing their ambitious vision in the mixed reality space.

Both new devices support virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) functions, but their biggest highlight is the deep application of AI. With the powerful computing capabilities of Gemini, these devices can not only understand user intentions and the surrounding environment but also possess long-term memory. This means they can provide more personalized and intelligent services based on the user's past behaviors and preferences.

The new devices also introduce innovative interaction methods. They support various natural interaction modes such as gestures, voice commands, and eye tracking, allowing users to easily control the devices without the need for complex buttons or touch inputs, further enhancing the user experience.

These new devices are based on the Android XR operating system, meaning most existing Android applications can seamlessly adapt to the XR environment without additional development. This will greatly lower the entry barrier for developers into the mixed reality field and provide users with a richer variety of application options.

Google and Samsung also plan to launch a mixed reality headset codenamed "Project Moohan" in 2025. This device will feature a high-fidelity display and support interaction methods such as gesture and eye tracking, aiming to provide users with a similar experience to Apple's Vision Pro but at a more affordable price. This move undoubtedly poses a direct challenge to Apple's Vision Pro.

To better support mixed reality experiences, Android XR will offer Google application versions optimized specifically for XR devices, including Maps, Photos, and YouTube. Android XR is currently available to developers in an early version, with a full launch expected in 2025.
