This partnership places UNSW alongside internationally renowned institutions such as the University of Oxford, Columbia University, Arizona State University, London Business School, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania as a user of OpenAI. Currently, UNSW is conducting a 12-month pilot project involving 500 faculty and students. The project aims to explore how to leverage ChatGPT Edu to enhance productivity, develop courses, and support the needs of students and teachers.

Dr. Chrissy Burns, UNSW's Chief Information Technology Officer, stated that this agreement provides UNSW's staff and students with a more powerful, secure, and personalized technology compared to the standard free or Plus versions of ChatGPT. When using this tool, users' questions will remain private, and their data will not be used for model training.

"The collaboration with OpenAI marks an important step in our journey to integrate cutting-edge technology into UNSW," she said. With the enterprise-level features of ChatGPT Edu, UNSW ensures that researchers, educators, and students have access to advanced AI tools that meet their needs securely.

Professor Paul Andon, Deputy Dean of the UNSW Business School, expressed his excitement about the pilot project. He said, "As Australia's leading business school, we are thrilled to partner with OpenAI to drive the transformation of education. Through this pilot project, we are exploring new ways to collaborate with artificial intelligence to enhance the learning experience of business educators and students on a large scale."

Additionally, UNSW has signed agreements with other AI platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, and Adobe to further promote technological innovation and application at the university.
