Douyin Group recently released its 2024 Live Streaming Governance Report, which comprehensively showcases the platform's governance philosophy, methods, and achievements in the live streaming sector. Over the past year, Douyin has been committed to building a safe, trustworthy, and positive online live streaming environment by improving anchor management mechanisms, enhancing content recognition technology, coordinating online and offline governance, and protecting key demographics, achieving significant results.
In terms of anchor management, Douyin introduced a "Health Score" system, which adjusts account scores based on the anchor's daily live streaming behavior and implements tiered management according to the score. After the implementation of this system, 1 million anchors had their health scores deducted, and 76% of low-scoring anchors proactively adjusted their content to avoid violations, significantly reducing the violation rate in live streaming rooms. Additionally, Douyin has linked the health scores of anchors with their agencies, requiring agencies to take on management responsibilities, which resulted in a 10% decrease in repeated violations by agency anchors.
On the technical side, Douyin has introduced a large audio review model that has mastered common expressions used in live streaming scenarios through pre-training and possesses basic logical reasoning capabilities. The application of this technology has effectively improved the duration of exposure to violating content, gradually shifting the identification and handling of risky content from manual to machine-based automatic recognition and processing. In 2024, Douyin launched over twenty special operations utilizing AI large models, indefinitely revoked live streaming permissions for 320,000 accounts, and expelled 526 live streaming agencies.
Regarding the protection of key demographics, Douyin has upgraded its mechanism for protecting minors. For underage users who make purchases without parental consent, once verified, Douyin will first fully reimburse the amount, completing refunds within an average of 21 hours. Furthermore, Douyin is actively exploring a "City + Platform" governance model, collaborating with relevant departments in cities such as Changsha and Shenyang to establish a "rapid prevention + efficient handling" coordination mechanism, effectively reducing violations.
Douyin has also strengthened its cooperation with law enforcement to rigorously combat offline illegal activities. Over the past year, Douyin Live established a special team, reporting over 300 leads on black market activities and assisting public security agencies in dismantling over 100 criminal dens, capturing 361 criminal suspects. Through these measures, Douyin Live has achieved significant results in combating pornographic black market activities and fraud-related black market activities, indefinitely revoking live streaming permissions for 74,000 accounts involved in pornographic diversion and recovering live streaming permissions for 150,000 accounts suspected of fraud-related black market activities.
