Recently, the upcoming RTX5080 graphics card from Nvidia was unexpectedly revealed online, with related images attracting widespread attention. These images showcase the retail packaging of the MSI Gaming Trio RTX5080 graphics card, and although they were quickly deleted, they provided key details about this new graphics card for gamers and tech enthusiasts.
According to sources, these images first appeared on the ChipHell forum before being swiftly removed. While leaks from this forum are not uncommon and many details should be taken with caution, the content of the images appears quite credible. Notably, these photos suggest that the RTX5080 is likely to be Nvidia's first graphics card based on the upcoming Blackwell architecture, which is expected to be officially released on January 21, 2025.
From these leaked packaging images, we learned that the RTX5080 will feature 16GB of GDDR7 memory and will still use a 256-bit memory bus, indicating strong performance in 4K gaming. Additionally, the RTX5080 may become the first consumer graphics card to support the PCIe 5.0 interface standard, equipped with Nvidia's GB203-400 Blackwell GPU, and is expected to have 10,752 CUDA cores.
If the Blackwell architecture maintains a similar SM structure to the previous generation Lovelace, the RTX5080's core count could reach 84, which would mean enhanced performance in ray tracing and AI computations. Although these specifications have not yet been officially listed on the packaging, the truth will soon come to light as CES 2025 approaches.
However, despite reports suggesting that the RTX5080's performance is expected to be 10% faster than the RTX4090, its power consumption may be comparable to that of the Lovelace flagship graphics card, raising concerns among some gamers. As Nvidia's release plans draw near, excitement for this new graphics card continues to build.
