On January 6th, it was reported that the well-known domestic video streaming platform iQIYI has filed a lawsuit with the People's Court of Xuhui District in Shanghai, accusing the domestic AI startup MiniMax of infringing its copyright during the AI model training and content generation process.
According to related reports, MiniMax is accused of using copyrighted materials owned by iQIYI for model training without authorization, which led to the generation of content that allegedly infringes iQIYI's copyright. iQIYI demands that MiniMax immediately cease this infringement and is seeking compensation of approximately 100,000 yuan. On the other hand, MiniMax may argue that the materials in question are public resources or user-generated, and attempt to invoke the principle of technological neutrality to exempt itself from legal liability.
As of the time of publication, neither iQIYI nor MiniMax has made a public response regarding this incident, and the legal dispute between the two parties is still developing.
