At the recent CES event, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang made a striking statement: "The RTX 5070 can achieve the performance level of the RTX 4090 at a price of $549." This claim quickly sparked lively discussions on social media, particularly on YouTube and TikTok, with a flurry of comments emerging. So, can the RTX 5070 really compete with the $1599 RTX 4090? The answer is not straightforward, and the key lies in Nvidia's latest DLSS 4 technology.

Nvidia's assertion is primarily based on its latest generation of Deep Learning Super Sampling technology (DLSS). Huang acknowledged that "none of this would be possible without artificial intelligence." DLSS 4 introduces multi-frame generation technology, which can generate up to three additional images based on each traditional rendered frame. While some PC gamers have questioned this practice of "fake frames," arguing that it does not reflect the true performance of the graphics card, Nvidia explains that after using DLSS 4, the performance level of the RTX 5070 can achieve effects that were previously only possible with the RTX 4090.

In the demonstration of DLSS 4, Nvidia showcased how the RTX 5070, using DLSS 4 in games like Cyberpunk 2077, could boost the frame rate from 27 fps without DLSS to 243 fps, marking a significant improvement. Nvidia emphasized that the RTX 5070 can achieve performance similar to the RTX 4090 running DLSS 3.5 in games that support DLSS 4, but this does not mean that the RTX 5070 will always surpass the RTX 4090 in all settings and configurations.

Nvidia also pointed out that DLSS 4 employs a new transformer model, which enhances the speed of the frame generation model by 40% and reduces memory usage by 30%. Although the multi-frame generation technology of DLSS 4 can significantly increase frame rates, input latency and feel remain important concerns for gamers. Even with a substantial increase in frame rates, the smoothness of the gaming experience is closely related to the original frame rate.

In modern gaming, many technologies are employed to enhance visual quality through various optimizations, and DLSS 4 provides developers with more tools to achieve better visual effects. As more games begin to support ray tracing technology, the future of PC gaming is likely to become increasingly reliant on these AI-driven rendering technologies.

Key Points:

🎮 The RTX 5070 promises to deliver RTX 4090 performance for $549, primarily relying on DLSS 4's multi-frame generation technology.

⚡ DLSS 4 can generate up to three additional images based on each traditional frame, enhancing game frame rates.

💡 Despite significant performance gains, input latency and smoothness remain focal points for players.
