Artificial intelligence search engine Perplexity recently announced a partnership with travel site Tripadvisor to provide users with more comprehensive hotel information.
This collaboration allows Perplexity to display more detailed and reliable content when searching for hotels. For example, when users search for "business hotels in Madrid," Perplexity will recommend hotels such as Hotel Regina and explain the reasons for the recommendations, such as "This hotel has a prime location, excellent service, and offers a hearty breakfast." Additionally, search results will show Tripadvisor ratings, hotel images, and key features like "location," "service," and "cleanliness."
Previously, Perplexity provided only a simple numbered list of hotel information, including addresses, user ratings, and some features, with images in the sidebar mainly sourced from individual hotel websites. Now, through the partnership with Tripadvisor, Perplexity can offer more detailed information to enhance the user experience.
Perplexity co-founder Johnny Ho stated in an interview with The Verge: "The latest, reliable information provided by Tripadvisor allows us to regularly update our content. We will index and retrieve appropriate results in real-time based on user query intent." He added that Perplexity plans to expand the integration with Tripadvisor to include information on restaurants and other experiences in the future.
Additionally, Perplexity established a partnership with Yelp last year to provide users with accurate and practical information. This integration with Tripadvisor comes shortly after the widespread launch of ChatGPT's AI search engine, which also began displaying web results for certain queries. The Tripadvisor integration for Perplexity is currently live on its web version, with a mobile app version set to launch soon.
