To further accelerate the development of artificial intelligence, Google has announced that it will streamline its teams responsible for building AI services, platforms, and tools, integrating the AI Studio team and the team developing APIs for the Gemini series models into Google's DeepMind division.

On January 9, 2025, Logan Kilpatrick, the product lead for the Google AI Studio developer platform, posted on social media platform X, revealing this change. Kilpatrick stated that the Google AI Studio team will officially join forces with the engineers developing the Gemini models under Google DeepMind. This change aims to accelerate the transition of AI products from research to actual development by deepening collaboration between teams.

Google DeepMind was established in 2023 as part of Google's strategic adjustments to promote innovation in the field of artificial intelligence. DeepMind is formed by the merger of Google's DeepMind team and the Google Brain team, becoming the core R&D department for many of Google's AI products, including the Gemini series models. Kilpatrick noted in his post that although the team's structure has changed, their mission remains unchanged, still dedicated to advancing the development and innovation of AI technology.

This reorganization has also been supported by Jaana Dogan, an engineer from the Google DeepMind team. In her post on X, Dogan emphasized that this adjustment will help DeepMind open up more resources to the public in "previously unattainable ways." She stated, "Better APIs, richer open-source resources, more tools... all of this is just part of the changes to come."

Google's adjustment means that the AI Studio and Gemini teams will be able to collaborate more closely with DeepMind, enhancing the efficiency of AI R&D and promoting the openness and innovation of new tools and APIs. By optimizing team structures, Google hopes to accelerate the technology transfer process from research to practical application, further solidifying its leadership position in the field of artificial intelligence.

As this strategic adjustment deepens, Google's AI platform will place greater emphasis on user needs, offering more features, more convenient development tools, and more open resources, which is expected to bring more innovative opportunities to developers worldwide and further promote the popularization and application of AI technology.
