In a recent episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that the company plans to launch an artificial intelligence model this year that can act as a "mid-level engineer." He stated that Meta and many other tech companies are working hard to develop this technology, which is expected to be able to write code and perform mid-level engineering functions by 2025.

Zuckerberg pointed out that current AI technology is still in its developmental stage, and initial investments can be quite expensive. However, as technology advances, the operational efficiency of AI will continuously improve, ultimately replacing the programming tasks of human engineers at Meta and other applications. He emphasized that this process does not mean that human engineers will be completely replaced; rather, their work will be enhanced by AI technology, allowing human engineers to be freed up to engage in more innovative and creative tasks.
When asked whether AI would lead to job reductions, Zuckerberg did not provide a direct answer but instead introduced the metaphor of industrialization, emphasizing that as society progresses, the nature of work will continually change, and people will no longer just be farmers.
The launch of this AI programming model aligns with current trends in the tech industry, where many companies are exploring the development of AI agents with a certain degree of autonomy so that they can independently complete complex tasks, becoming a form of "virtual employee."
Zuckerberg mentioned that Meta is not the only company pushing for AI automation. In December last year, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff stated that the company plans to stop hiring software engineers by 2025 due to the productivity enhancements brought by AI technology, particularly through the application of its own Agentforce AI model.
Additionally, the CEO of fintech company Klarna stated that they laid off 22% of their workforce due to the introduction of AI. Across the tech industry, thousands of jobs have already been eliminated due to competition from AI.
Key Points:
1. 🤖 Zuckerberg plans to launch an AI mid-level engineer model this year, with the goal of achieving automated programming by 2025.
2. 💼 Initial investments in AI technology are high, but future improvements in efficiency may replace some human engineering jobs.
3. 📉 The promotion of AI technology has already led to layoffs in several companies, and the tech industry is undergoing profound changes.
