At a recent press conference, Google announced the integration of all AI features into its Workspace services, allowing users to access new functionalities in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Meet without any additional fees. However, the monthly fee for Workspace will increase by $2, raising the standard plan cost from $12 to $14 per user.

This change aims to simplify access to AI tools for Workspace users, including features like email summarization, automatic note-taking, and interaction with the Gemini chatbot. Previously, users wanting to utilize all AI features had to pay an additional $20 per month for Gemini for Workspace on top of the $12 Workspace Business Standard plan. Now, users can enjoy these new features for just $14 under the standard plan.

For new customers, the new pricing policy takes effect immediately, while existing customers will see the fee changes after March 17, 2025. It is worth noting that small business customers are currently exempt from this price adjustment.

For those who have already purchased the Gemini for Workspace add-on, Google stated that they will continue to have access to these features, and the subscription fee will no longer be charged after January 31, 2024.

This latest update is part of Google's strategy to compete fiercely with rivals like Microsoft. Last November, Microsoft bundled its Copilot Pro AI features with the standard subscription of Microsoft 365, intensifying competition in the market.

Google's move not only enables its Workspace users to more easily access advanced AI tools but also demonstrates the company's determination to seek a larger market share in the current tech competitive landscape.
