According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple plans to introduce a newly designed Mail app for Mac users with the upcoming macOS 15.4 release. A key feature of this app is its AI-powered categorization function, which can automatically sort emails into different inboxes, helping users manage their emails more efficiently.

The design of the new Mail app has been hinted at for some time. Last October, during the launch event for the Mac with the M4 chip, the Mac version of this app briefly appeared. Although the design for its iPhone version was revealed earlier at the WWDC developer conference, the specific timeline for its arrival on the Mac platform was not disclosed at that time.

Despite the introduction of the Genmoji feature in the macOS 15.3 version released last December, this highly anticipated new Mail app was not included. Now, Gurman reveals that the macOS 15.4 version is expected to begin testing in the coming weeks and is scheduled for a formal release in April. At that time, Mac users will be able to experience this smart Mail app that was previously only available on iPhone.

The new app will offer several smart categorization features, including different categories such as Primary Inbox, Offers, Promotions, Updates, and All Mail. Notably, while Gurman mentioned that the app has been made available to iPad users, neither iPadOS 18.2 nor 18.3 versions actually include this feature. iPad users may need to wait for the iPadOS 18.4 version to experience this new functionality.
