According to a report by "Intelligent Emergence," former Midjourney Asia Vice President Wang Yueting has joined Zhipu, where she will primarily be responsible for multimodal products and marketing. Meanwhile, Zhipu's Chief Strategy Officer Zhang Kuo and Vice President Qu Teng have recently left the company. As of the time of this report, Zhipu has not responded to these changes.

Wang Yueting, the new head of multimodal products and marketing, previously served as the Asia Vice President of AIGC star company Midjourney, overseeing operations in China. Her joining Zhipu is seen as an important strategic adjustment for the company in terms of products and marketing. Industry insiders believe that Zhipu's strength lies in technology, while its product offerings are relatively weaker. Previously, Zhipu has started to bring in talent for product development, such as Hu Yunhua, a veteran from Microsoft and Alibaba, who joined to oversee the consumer product "Zhipu Qingyan."

Zhipu AI

In the context of increasingly fierce competition in the AI industry, 2025 is seen as a crucial year for user retention and commercialization of AI products. Some companies are choosing to downsize their operations and focus on star products; others are actively exploring different application directions. Zhipu is also actively adjusting its strategy, trying to break through with differentiated products.

Currently, "Zhipu Qingyan" lags behind products like Doubao and Kimi in terms of user numbers and monthly active users in the conversational tool sector. Since October 2024, Zhipu has begun focusing on intelligent AI Agents, successively launching products such as the AutoGLM browser assistant, AutoGLM for App/Web, and GLM-PC for PC, along with the release of the GLM-PC1.1 version featuring a "deep thinking" mode.

Insiders have revealed that Zhipu is planning to bring in a group of young mid-level and senior managers, represented by Wang Yueting, to build a core team for product development and commercialization, aiming to create products that lead in user engagement and market recognition.

This management adjustment indicates that Zhipu is actively responding to market challenges and accelerating product commercialization in an effort to stand out in the competitive AI landscape.
