During a dialogue event at the University of Tokyo, OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman revealed their latest internal reasoning model — GPT-4.5. He stated that the programming capabilities of this model currently rank among the top 50 programmers in the world, and it is expected to become the number one by the end of the year. He emphasized that the advantages of this model in programming are becoming increasingly apparent compared to top programmers.

Altman mentioned that as technology advances, the impact of AI on education and job skills is becoming more significant. He pointed out that traditional math and programming tasks will no longer be human strengths, making it particularly important to cultivate creative thinking and adaptability. He urged people to actively use AI tools in their work and lives to keep pace with technological developments. In his view, AI is not just a tool but could be a form of liberation, freeing humans from some burdensome tasks.

Regarding the enhancement of computing power, Altman stated that every previous model upgrade has been accompanied by an increase of about 100 times in computing power. However, the new O1 series reasoning models from OpenAI have brought about new computational efficiencies, making it unnecessary to require such enormous computing power to achieve higher versions of the model. He also mentioned that the launch of GPT-4.5 signifies that AI's capabilities and efficiencies are continuously improving, and it will develop in a more open-source direction in the future.

When discussing open-source plans, Altman stated that although the specific details and timeline for open-sourcing have not yet been determined, OpenAI's goal is to move towards an open research environment, leveraging the significant contributions that open-source can bring. He believes that advancements in AI will lead to a leap in productivity for society and promote comprehensive human development.

During the event, Altman also shared his views on cutting-edge technologies such as brain-computer interfaces and space engineering, expressing his strong interest in these fields and even praising companies like Neuralink as some of the most interesting he has seen recently.
