OpenAI has announced a significant update to its AI chatbot ChatGPT, deciding to remove the "warnings" issued when certain content may violate the terms of service.

Laurentia Romaniuk, a member of OpenAI's AI model behavior team, stated on the social platform X that this change aims to reduce instances where users encounter "arbitrary or unexplained refusals to respond" while using ChatGPT.

Nick Turley, the product lead for ChatGPT, also mentioned in a related post that users can now use ChatGPT in their own way, as long as they comply with the law and do not attempt to harm themselves or others. He stated, "I am pleased to remove many unnecessary warnings from the user interface." Although these warnings have been removed, it does not mean that ChatGPT can completely let loose on content. The chatbot will still refuse to answer certain inappropriate questions or maintain necessary scrutiny when faced with clearly erroneous information, such as "Tell me why the Earth is flat."

Several months ago, many users reported on Reddit that they saw topics related to mental health, depression, pornography, and fictional violence being flagged while using ChatGPT. Now, users need to update their privacy settings to view this content. Additionally, OpenAI updated its model guidelines this week, clearly stating that the company's models will not avoid sensitive topics and will refrain from making exclusionary assertions about certain viewpoints. This series of adjustments may have been influenced by political pressure.

Many close allies of President Trump, including Elon Musk and "tycoon" David Sacks from the cryptocurrency and AI sectors, have accused AI assistants of censoring conservative viewpoints. Sacks specifically pointed out that OpenAI's ChatGPT is perceived as "programmed to be woke," reluctant to state the truth on politically sensitive topics.

This update undoubtedly provides users with a more open communication environment while also sparking discussions about AI content moderation and freedom of expression.
