Recently, the Paytm app launched a new AI smart search tool called Perplexity on both Android and iPhone. This new feature, known as "Ask AI," can be found in the "Free Tools" section on the homepage. With this feature, users can ask questions, and Perplexity will provide answers with citations on a dedicated interface, helping users quickly obtain the information they need.

Paytm's CEO, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, has high praise for Perplexity AI. As early as last year, he mentioned on social media that Perplexity is his preferred search engine, calling it "always intelligent." This reflects Paytm's emphasis on and proactive exploration of AI technology.

Perplexity is also aggressively expanding its market in India. As the world's second-largest AI user market, India has attracted Perplexity's attention. Perplexity's CEO, Aravind Srinivas, recently posted job openings on LinkedIn, hoping to recruit talent in India to better develop the company's business. He stated, "I am looking for the right candidates to work together to grow Perplexity; it will be an interesting and challenging journey."

Additionally, Srinivas expressed his willingness to personally invest $1 million and dedicate five hours a week to collaborate with the best teams to advance AI development in India. He even mentioned that if the team's goal is to completely surpass the latest DeepSeek-R1 model, he is willing to invest an additional $10 million.

Recently, Perplexity launched a "Deep Research" feature that can conduct multiple searches, review hundreds of sources, and compile the results into comprehensive reports. This feature is free for all users, with non-subscribers able to make up to five queries per day, while Pro users can make up to 500 queries daily.

Perplexity claims that its deep research feature can handle expert-level tasks in fields such as finance, marketing, and product research, demonstrating its belief in powerful research tools aimed at providing equal access to this resource for everyone.
