Quora recently launched a new feature on its AI platform, Poe, allowing users to build custom AI applications. This feature, called "Poe Apps," lets users create visual interfaces on the Poe platform with simple descriptions. Users can select different AI models to bring their app ideas to life.

Within the newly launched app creation tool, users simply describe the app they want to create, specifying the AI model to use, such as OpenAI's o3-mini or Google's video generation model Veo2. Powered by Anthropic's recently released Claude3.7Sonnet, the tool translates user descriptions into the app interface code and custom logic written in JavaScript.

Quora showcased several example apps, including one that transforms photos into 3D anime-style art using OpenAI's GPT-4o and Black Forest Labs' Flux-Pro-1.1 models. Another app removes unwanted objects from images using Bria's Bria Eraser model.

Currently, user-created Poe Apps are only shareable on the web, but Quora stated that iOS and Android versions will be released in the future. Each time an app uses an AI model, it deducts points from the user's Poe points balance. Free users receive a daily allowance of points, while Poe Premium subscribers ($5/month) get flexible daily or monthly point packages.

In a blog post, Quora revealed early access pricing for app creators and hinted at future app monetization options. Quora stated: "This is an early launch feature, and we have a long-term roadmap aimed at providing creators with more capabilities, including the possibility of earning money directly from their apps. We look forward to seeing your creations and expect Poe Apps to get even better as models' code-writing abilities improve."

The Poe Apps feature builds upon the web app functionality launched last July. Similar to Anthropic's Artifacts and OpenAI's ChatGPT Canvas tools, it provides a dedicated workspace where users can edit and add AI-generated content. While the applications these tools can generate are still relatively limited, they undoubtedly showcase the advancements in current models' code-writing capabilities.
