Meta is exploring plans to build a massive data center campus to support its artificial intelligence projects, with an estimated investment exceeding $200 billion. According to a report by Information, Meta is considering several potential locations in Louisiana, Wyoming, and Texas, with senior executives planning site visits this month.

Meta's investment in AI is rapidly increasing. CEO Mark Zuckerberg previously revealed plans to invest up to $65 billion in expanding AI infrastructure by 2025. Meanwhile, other tech giants are also significantly increasing their investments. Microsoft plans to invest approximately $80 billion in data center construction by fiscal year 2025, while Amazon anticipates investments exceeding $750 billion in 2025.

Notably, Apple recently announced a $500 billion investment in the United States, encompassing collaborations with thousands of nationwide suppliers, direct employment, Apple's smart infrastructure, data centers, corporate offices, and Apple TV+ productions. Apple plans to expand its data center capacity in North Carolina, Iowa, Oregon, Arizona, and Nevada.

Globally, the construction of AI infrastructure is rapidly becoming a major investment area. Last month, OpenAI and SoftBank launched a new company called "Project Star," aiming to build new AI infrastructure with an ambitious $500 billion investment over the next four years. OpenAI announced an immediate $100 billion investment to build data centers in the United States.

Similarly, Microsoft made a comparable commitment in India this year. Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft, announced a $3 billion investment in India over the next two years during a January visit, focusing on AI and cloud infrastructure and training programs.

While Meta is cautious about external investment reports, a spokesperson stated that the company's data center plans and expenditures have been previously disclosed, and anything beyond that is "pure speculation." However, with the intense competition among major tech companies in the AI field, Meta's plans will undoubtedly further drive the industry's growth.
