According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple is facing challenges in revamping Siri to adapt to the age of generative AI. The company is reportedly not expected to launch a truly "modern, conversational Siri" until iOS 20 in 2027.
However, this doesn't mean Siri will remain stagnant until then. A new version of Siri is expected to launch this May, integrating all the AI features Apple has released in the past year.
Gurman describes the new Siri as employing a "dual-brain" system: one for handling older commands like setting timers and making calls, and another dedicated to more complex queries, leveraging user data. This system, internally known as "LLM Siri," is expected to be announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June and is planned for release in Spring 2026.
Only after this new version launches, Gurman suggests, will Apple be able to fully push forward with the development of advanced Siri features, which may roll out in subsequent years.
