According to LatePost, Meituan CEO Wang Xing held a crucial internal communication meeting on February 28th. Attendees included high-level executives and managers at the director level and above. This meeting, the first high-level communication meeting in Meituan's 15-year history, saw Wang Xing delve into Meituan's future development direction.
This meeting signifies Wang Xing's deeper contemplation of Meituan's future. He outlined three key focus areas for the next decade: grocery retail, internationalization, and technological innovation.
Regarding grocery retail, Wang Xing emphasized Meituan's long-term mission: "to help people eat better and live better." This encompasses both Meituan's self-operated fresh food retail business and its platform retail operations, aiming to satisfy consumer needs through diverse options.
On internationalization, Wang Xing mentioned Meituan's ambition to expand its food delivery and other services overseas. This includes the existing Keeta business in the Middle East and future plans for drone delivery services. He envisions Meituan's food delivery market reaching a scale of hundreds of billions of dollars, signifying that Meituan's growth cannot be confined to the Chinese market.
Technological innovation was another key topic. Wang Xing stated Meituan aims to leverage current AI advancements to build a large-scale, full-category, and ecologically healthy local business system to enhance its competitiveness.
