Although Reuters previously reported that three sources familiar with the matter revealed DeepSeek is accelerating the launch of the R2 model, originally planned for May, and is now striving for an earlier release. These sources indicated that the R2 model is expected to show significant improvements in code generation and multilingual reasoning capabilities.

Currently, DeepSeek has not officially announced the specific release date and technical details of R2.
