Against the backdrop of rapid global technological advancements, Hong Kong is striving to transform itself into an innovation and technology hub, leading to a significant surge in demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) professionals. Recent reports indicate that Hong Kong employers are currently seeking to fill over 2,000 AI-related positions, which will be showcased at the upcoming Cyberport Career Expo.
Scheduled for this Friday and Saturday, the career expo will feature over 580 participating organizations, including startups, tech companies, government departments, and large corporations such as Hang Seng Bank and Centaline Property. According to Mr. Cai, Director of Cyberport Smart Living, approximately 70% of participating recruiters are seeking AI professionals, with nearly 60% of the positions directly related to AI applications. Mr. Cai further noted that while Hong Kong was previously perceived primarily as a financial center, this perception is evolving. This year, employers from the smart living sector account for 67% of participants. The smart living sector encompasses various fields, including environmental technology, retail, healthcare, robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), and EdTech. Among these, EdTech positions constitute the largest share, reaching 29% of all positions.
With the rapid growth of the AI industry, Hong Kong's demand for AI talent remains robust. A survey by TechJobAsia, a digital recruitment platform, reveals that one-third of Hong Kong professionals are considering a career switch into AI-related roles. It is foreseeable that, with the continuous advancement and expanding applications of smart technologies, AI will become a crucial driver of Hong Kong's economic growth.
Within this market context, the career expo not only provides abundant job opportunities for job seekers but also lays the foundation for companies to cultivate and nurture future talent. Hong Kong's job market is undergoing a technological revolution, with future employment trends increasingly reliant on innovative technologies, particularly in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
