OpenAI today announced the release of its latest high-performance reasoning model, O1-Pro. OpenAI states that this model boasts significant improvements in performance and capabilities and is currently available to a select group of developers.
According to OpenAI, the O1-Pro model is available to specific developers located in tiers 1 through 5 and features powerful functionalities, including support for visual input, function calling, and structured output. It also seamlessly integrates with OpenAI's response and batch processing APIs.
However, this performance increase comes at a higher cost. OpenAI has published the pricing for O1-Pro: $150 per million tokens for input and a substantial $600 per million tokens for output. Compared to previously released OpenAI models, O1-Pro's pricing is significantly higher.
Despite the hefty price tag, the enhanced performance and rich features offered by O1-Pro, such as visual understanding and more flexible API interaction, are expected to attract developers needing to handle complex tasks and demanding higher model performance. The release of O1-Pro further demonstrates OpenAI's ongoing efforts to push the boundaries of AI technology and its strategy of offering diverse model choices to cater to different developer needs. Currently, OpenAI has not announced a general release timeline for O1-Pro; interested developers should watch for further official announcements.
