Ant Group is accelerating its AI healthcare strategy. On March 21st, it announced upgrades to its AI product system across three sectors: medical institutions, doctors, and users. For medical institutions, Ant collaborated with Huawei's Medical and Health Corps, Alibaba Cloud, and others to launch the "Ant Medical Large Model Integrated Machine," a full-stack solution. For the 290,000 registered doctors on Good Doctor Online, it released a series of AI doctor assistant tools. Simultaneously, its user-facing health application, "AI Health Butler," added over ten new features, including intelligent reasoning and health self-tests.
The AI wave has fueled increasing demand for large model deployment in medical institutions. However, balancing ease of service with data security and application performance with cost remains a major challenge in practical application.
To address this, Ant Group, along with Alibaba Cloud, Huawei's Medical and Health Corps, Weining Health, Nari Smart Data, and nearly 100 other industry partners, announced the "Ant Medical Large Model Integrated Machine" full-stack solution. Medical institutions can deploy domestic computing power, medical large models, and AI training and inference with a single click, upgrading in-hospital business systems and patient service AI. Seven institutions—the Hangzhou Municipal Medical Insurance Bureau, Ningbo Yinzhou District Health Commission, Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shanghai Renji Hospital, Shanghai Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, and Dian Diagnostics—were among the first to adopt this solution.
This solution integrates Ant's core medical large model capabilities, allowing one-click access to multiple leading large models such as DeepSeek R1/V3, Qwen, and Bailin. It boasts leading medical reasoning capabilities and multi-modal interaction within the medical field. Ant's medical large model has consistently won top honors in medical knowledge question answering and other categories in the MedBench medical large model evaluation.
Regarding hardware deployment, Ant collaborated with major hardware vendors like Alibaba Cloud, Huawei, and Apple, focusing on a lightweight "train-and-infer-as-one, ready-to-use" design. Combined with Ant's trusted AI platform, "Ant Jian 2.0," and its privacy computing capabilities, data is usable but invisible, ensuring traceability throughout the diagnosis and treatment process and data security for hospitals deploying AI.
Beyond opening up its large model capabilities, Ant is also supporting innovation at the application level. In the public healthcare system, it partnered with the Zhejiang Health Commission to develop "An Zhen'er," China's first provincial-level AI health application. It has reportedly served over 30 million people across more than 1,000 public hospitals. For medical insurance departments, Ant's AI technology powers "Yi Bao'er," an AI medical insurance assistant for the Hangzhou Medical Insurance Bureau. Other medical insurance bureaus in Hubei, Tianjin, and Shanghai have also implemented AI-powered medical insurance services through Ant.
AI as a Doctor's Assistant and Health Manager for Users
In January, Ant Group completed its acquisition of Good Doctor Online, accelerating the development of AI to assist doctors and creating an "AI Super Doctor Assistant" to serve the platform's 290,000 registered doctors. Building upon the previously released "AI Medical Record Assistant" and "AI Popular Science Assistant," it launched the "AI Research Assistant" to comprehensively support doctors' medical practice, teaching, and research.
The "AI Research Assistant," deeply integrated with DeepSeek, provides doctors with efficient and accurate academic and clinical support. Through real-time analysis of multi-source medical data and deep learning algorithms, the system quickly locates key literature and generates structured reviews, significantly improving literature retrieval efficiency. In clinical decision-making scenarios, the AI Research Assistant integrates patient medical records, imaging data, and the latest medical guidelines, supporting input of complete medical records and query information in text and images. It generates structured differential diagnosis suggestions, providing authoritative literature references and tiered diagnosis and treatment pathway recommendations.
Ant has also made progress in AI user applications. Launched last September, the "AI Health Butler" provides users with AI-powered healthcare services, including finding doctors, reading reports, accompanying doctor visits, and inquiring about medical insurance. Ant Group data shows that in just over half a year, this product has served nearly 40 million users, covering medical needs from doctor visits to daily health consultations.
To further optimize user experience, "AI Health Butler" now supports a deep thinking mode and a self-developed intelligent reasoning mode, catering to various user dialogue needs. It also adds practical functions such as health self-tests and interpretation of physical examination reports. More than 60 renowned doctors' AI avatars have joined, bringing the total number of services to nearly 100.
Industry observers say Ant Group's AI healthcare strategy, centered around medical large models, has created a three-dimensional service system covering medical institutions, doctors, and patients. This integrates medical AI from diagnosis and treatment to health management, making valuable contributions to the development of secure and reliable AI applications in the healthcare industry.
Ant's medical health division, established ten years ago, has partnered with over 3,600 hospitals and served over 800 million users. It's currently China's largest medical insurance payment service platform and one-stop medical and health service platform. Since 2023, Ant has explored the AI medical field, and its medical large model is one of the industry's most widely applied, with the deepest collaboration with medical institutions, doctors, and hospitals.
