Brellium, a startup company, recently announced securing $16.7 million in Series A funding. This investment will fuel the expansion of its AI-powered medical record review solution. This technology aims to automate clinical quality management and insurance compliance for healthcare organizations, ultimately improving efficiency and accuracy in healthcare services.

Brellium's co-founder, Zach Rosen, was deeply impacted by a personal experience highlighting the severe consequences of medical documentation errors. Years ago, a misdiagnosis led to two years of frustration, numerous specialist visits, various treatments, and ultimately, both physical and mental exhaustion, along with substantial medical bills. This experience underscored the cascading effects of seemingly simple documentation issues, prompting him and three other co-founders to establish Brellium with the goal of optimizing healthcare organizations' review processes.

Investment, Funding, Money

First Round Capital and Left Lane Capital led the funding round, with participation from Menlo Ventures, Digital Health Venture Partners, Kearny Jackson, and Necessary Ventures. Several angel investors also contributed, including Andrew Adams (CEO of Headway), Steven Gutentag and Demetri Karagas (co-founders of Thirty Madison), Cory Levy (of Z Fellows), and Fiat Ventures.

Brellium's technology reviews every patient encounter in real-time, promptly identifying potential compliance risks. When a record requires correction, the system immediately notifies the physician and provides clear guidance for revisions. Rosen emphasized in a blog post that Brellium will cover any insurance claim rejections resulting from records approved by their system.

Currently, Brellium supports 250,000 healthcare providers across all 50 US states. Its clientele spans various sectors including behavioral health, applied behavior analysis (ABA), home health, hospice, weight loss, chronic disease management, and primary care, encompassing prominent organizations like Grow Therapy, Rula, Headspace, Hopebridge, Lightfully Behavioral Health, and Talkiatry.

This innovative technology not only reduces the workload for healthcare organizations but also enhances the quality of patient care. With the growing demand for healthcare services, Brellium's future prospects are promising.
