As reported by Zhanchang Home, Alexis Black Bjorlin, the head of Meta's artificial intelligence chip development, is set to leave the company by the end of this month. Bjorlin, who previously worked at chip companies Broadcom and Intel for many years, has recently been leading a Meta team with the goal of designing a custom chip to support the company's AI business. Bjorlin's position will be taken over by Meta's Engineering Vice President, Yee Jiun Song. Meta launched its first consumer-facing generative AI product this week and plans to continue developing AI chips in-house to support businesses such as chatbots and image generation, as well as redesigning data centers. Industry insiders suggest that Meta will not abandon its plans for AI chip development.
