YouTube has recently published a blog post announcing a series of policy updates related to AI. The new rules mandate that creators must disclose whether they have used generative AI tools to alter or synthesize videos, or face penalties otherwise. When AI-generated videos touch on sensitive topics, YouTube will add prominent labels to alert users. The platform will also update its privacy complaint process, allowing requests to remove AI-generated videos that simulate real people. Additionally, music partners can request the removal of AI-generated music that mimics an artist's voice. YouTube states that these measures aim to balance AI innovation with the responsibility to the community. The new rules are expected to be rolled out in phases throughout 2023 and 2024.
