The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has announced that it will trial artificial intelligence technology to monitor track boundary violations during the F1 season finale, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, held from November 25th to 27th. This technology uses computer vision to analyze images and determine if a driver has completely crossed the white line, constituting a violation. It can filter out a large number of non-compliant situations, alleviate the pressure on FIA staff, and enhance response speeds. The FIA indicates that this is the future direction for achieving automated real-time regulation.
