The UK Internet Watch Foundation has issued a warning, calling on the government and technology providers to swiftly control the artificial intelligence generating deepfake images, in order to prevent the escalation of child sexual abuse imagery. The report reveals that generative AI systems could lead to the creation of deepfake virtual children, hindering investigations and potentially increasing the number of victims. Strengthening laws to more easily combat AI-generated abuse is highlighted in the report, with specific recommendations aimed at the EU.
