Recently, Google announced the introduction of an AI-driven "Help Me Write" feature to the desktop version of Chrome, providing Windows, Mac, and Linux users with a more convenient writing assistant. This feature has already been implemented in applications such as Google Messages, Gmail, Docs, and Keep, and is now being extended to the Chrome browser. Users only need to provide simple prompts, and the system can generate appropriate text based on the context, eliminating the hassle of manual input. The new feature not only relies on user prompts but also checks the page content to gather more information about the writing context. Users can input summaries, drafts, or other requests, and the system will provide writing suggestions based on the context. Google states that user data will be sent to Google, possibly processed and annotated by human reviewers, to improve and develop Google products. Currently, the "Help Me Write" feature in Chrome is still in the testing phase and requires users to enable two flags in chrome://flags. As it is still being improved, it is unclear when this AI-driven writing feature will be available in the official version of Chrome.
