Recently, a study conducted by the University of Washington, Carnegie Mellon University, and Xi'an Jiaotong University revealed that AI language models exhibit political biases. Researchers tested 14 models and utilized a political compass test to determine the models' political inclinations. The results indicated that OpenAI's ChatGPT and GPT-4 were identified as the most left-leaning liberal models, while Meta's LLaMA was deemed the most right-leaning authoritarian model. The researchers noted that although the political compass test is not a perfect method, it aids in uncovering the biases within the models. They urged companies to be aware of these biases and strive to make their products more equitable. This research serves as a reminder to be vigilant about the presence of political biases in the development and use of AI language models, ensuring fair and diverse expressions.
