The Guangzhou Internet Court has ruled on the world's first case of generative artificial intelligence services infringing on copyright. The court stated that the generative AI industry is in its early stages of development and needs to balance rights protection with industrial growth, without excessively increasing the obligations of service providers. Shanghai Xin Chuang Hua Company discovered that Guangzhou Nian Guang Company's website could generate images identical or similar to the涉案 Ultraman images. A company providing AIGC services lost the lawsuit because its website could generate Ultraman series images through AI painting. The court found that the company had infringed on the plaintiff's reproduction and adaptation rights to the涉案 Ultraman images, ordering it to immediately cease the infringement and pay compensation of 10,000 yuan.
