A team of scientists has proposed a checklist of criteria to assess whether artificial intelligence possesses autonomous consciousness, determining consciousness by matching system functions. This checklist can also be applied to existing AI systems. However, there is currently no evidence to suggest that existing AI systems have consciousness. Scientists are calling on AI companies to pay greater attention to consciousness assessment and develop corresponding plans.
