Elon Musk withdrew his lawsuit against OpenAI on Tuesday, just a day before it was set to be heard in front of a San Francisco judge on Wednesday. The lawsuit, filed in February, accused OpenAI of breaching its contract. Musk claimed that OpenAI and its executives had abandoned their original non-profit mission to develop artificial intelligence and provide it freely to the public for the benefit of humanity. Instead, he argued that the startup had succumbed to greed, prioritizing commercial interests over public welfare, and pointed to the recent multi-billion dollar alliance with Microsoft as evidence.

OpenAI's other co-founders, CEO Sam Altman and President Greg Brockman, were also named as defendants. According to the Financial Times, OpenAI denied the allegations in the lawsuit, calling them "incoherent" and "absurd." The company published several early emails from Musk in a blog post in March, in which the tycoon seemed to acknowledge the necessity of pursuing profit.
