Upon its Beta release, Genspark quickly secured the fourth spot on Product Hunt's daily new listings, demonstrating its promising market potential. MainFunc has also recently announced the completion of a $60 million seed round financing, led by Singapore's Lanchi Ventures, with a company valuation of $260 million, a remarkable growth achieved in just eight months.
Jing Kun's new company, MainFunc, named after the "main function" in programming, symbolizes the company's positioning as a key player in the tech field and the starting point for a series of innovative AI-driven products. The team consists of veterans from Microsoft, Google, and Baidu, currently numbering 20 members, with headquarters in Palo Alto, California, and Singapore, and plans to open a new office in Seattle.
As MainFunc's first product, Genspark is positioned as an AI Agent engine focused on providing search services. It generates custom pages called "Sparkpages" through professional AI Agents, offering comprehensive and trustworthy information free from bias and SEO-driven influences, thereby saving users time. Genspark utilizes a variety of large models, including Meta's LLaMA and OpenAI's GPT series, to handle tasks.
Currently, Genspark is primarily targeting the U.S. market and is offered for free, with potential plans for a paid subscription model in the future. In a letter posted on Product Hunt, Jing Kun expressed that Genspark's design philosophy is to save users' time and provide better search results, and they are continuously learning and improving, looking forward to user feedback and participation.
Jing Kun's resume is impressive. After earning degrees from Wuhan University and Zhejiang University, he joined Microsoft China and later joined Baidu in 2014, driving the incubation and implementation of multiple innovative products. In 2018, he was appointed General Manager of Baidu's Intelligent Living Group, overseeing the product and operations of XiaoDu Assistant and XiaoDu hardware. Under his leadership, the valuation of XiaoDu Technology surged by over 75% in less than three years.
Now, with his new venture MainFunc and Genspark, Jing Kun stands once again at the forefront of the AI search field, and we look forward to him continuing to lead the industry's innovation and development.
