AWS announced a $50 million initiative aimed at accelerating public sector innovation, providing cloud credits and advanced AI infrastructure to attract governments and public organizations to utilize its generative AI services.

The new Public Sector Generative AI Impact Program will run for two years and provide access to AWS services, including Bedrock, a fully managed service for developing foundational models, and the machine learning development platform SageMaker.
Users can also leverage AWS's dedicated hardware to support intensive AI workloads, including its Trainium and Inferentia chips.
Public sector companies will be able to access AI training to help achieve their market entry goals and can attend global AWS Summit events for free.Participants will receive guidance on how to safely develop and deploy generative AI solutions, and AWS will provide technical support.
To earn available points, AWS will consider factors such as the maturity of project concepts and the breadth of customers' generative AI skills.It is open to new or existing AWS public sector customers and is valid until June 30, 2026.
Earlier this month, the company pledged to invest $230 million to support early-stage startups building generative AI applications and to provide similar support in cloud credits and AWS infrastructure solutions.
