Counterpoint has released its latest market research report indicating significant growth in the global PC market in 2024, with annual shipments expected to reach 253 million units, a 2.6% increase from 2023. This growth is mainly driven by the impending end of support for Windows 10 and the launch of the next generation of AI laptops. The report shows that in the fourth quarter of 2024, global PC shipments are expected to grow by 3.7% year-on-year, thanks to the consumer spending surge during the holiday season and the Chinese market.

As generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) technology becomes a hot topic in the smartphone industry, Counterpoint Research recently conducted a survey of consumers in seven countries. The survey included over 25,000 participants from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Poland, and Japan. The results showed that only 32% of respondents were familiar with Gen AI, with the highest awareness in the U.S. at 72%. In contrast, Japan had the lowest awareness at only 7%.
