Silicon Valley-based artificial intelligence startup Shield AI recently announced that its valuation has nearly doubled to $5 billion in a new funding round. The San Diego-based company focuses on developing AI-driven software for drones and autonomous aircraft, planning to raise approximately $200 million from several defense and aerospace companies, including well-known firms such as Palantir, Airbus, and L3 Harris. Venture capital firms Andreessen Horowitz, Point72, and Ri.

As one of the most watched AI startups outside of OpenAI and Anthropic, Cohere was valued at $5.5 billion in July. One of the company's co-founders is an author of the paper 'Attention Is All You Need,' which is considered critical to sparking the revolution of large language models (LLMs). Headquartered in Toronto and San Francisco, Cohere focuses on providing AI solutions for enterprise clients, rather than pursuing a similar path as other companies.

Recently, Palantir announced a partnership with Anthropic and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop the Claude Cloud Platform for use by the U.S. government’s defense and intelligence sectors. According to the announcement from the three companies, this collaboration will integrate Claude 3 and 3.5 into Palantir’s artificial intelligence platform, which will be hosted on AWS. Notably, Palantir and AWS have already received approval from the U.S. Department of Defense.

Palantir Technologies has entered into a partnership with Microsoft to provide secure cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and analytical capabilities to support the missions of defense and intelligence agencies of the U.S. government. This news resulted in an 11% increase in Palantir's stock price, and Microsoft's stock also saw an uptick. The collaboration allows the U.S. government to leverage Azure OpenAI services to access large language models, Microsoft’s partnership with OpenAI, and Palantir's AI platform.
