Recently, KPMG released a survey report on corporate AI strategy for 2024, pointing out that there is a significant transformation in the investment and application of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) by enterprises. According to this survey, corporate leaders have realized that simply investing in AI technology is not enough; they need to actively expand the use of GenAI to create new revenue sources and enhance investment returns.

The survey shows that 80% of US corporate leaders believe that GenAI is a key tool for gaining a competitive edge. They have different goals in using GenAI, but the vast majority (97%) regard AI as a top priority in their work. Now, generating revenue has become the primary return indicator for corporate AI investment, surpassing productivity enhancement. Additionally, the survey finds that enterprises are increasingly focusing on technical expertise and scalability, with 67% of respondents considering technology and expertise as the primary factors in choosing GenAI suppliers.
As the attention of enterprises to GenAI investment intensifies, the importance of hiring technical talent is also rising sharply, from 26% to 60%. Almost half of the CEOs (49%) are leading GenAI projects within their organizations, and there is a significant increase in leaders participating in GenAI training, rising from 19% to 93%. The survey also shows that 73% of enterprises plan to recruit new board members with GenAI expertise to strengthen the implementation of their AI strategy.
However, while rapidly advancing GenAI, enterprises also realize the importance of building trust. The survey indicates that 70% of enterprises believe that establishing an ethical framework is an important measure to ensure the credibility of AI, while 53% of respondents consider cybersecurity to be the major concern for the future application of GenAI.
