Google has recently announced a series of new features powered by Gemini AI for the desktop version of Chrome browser, which will significantly enhance the browsing experience for users.

After successful launch and continuous optimization on mobile devices, Google Lens is finally coming to desktop platforms. In the coming days, users worldwide will be able to access the Lens feature in Chrome's address bar and menu. They can click to select a part of the page and ask questions to get search results. Additionally, Lens supports multi-search functionality, allowing users to click on objects in images, such as backpacks, and then ask questions to find similar items in different colors or brands.

Google has also introduced a new feature called Tab Compare to assist users in making comparisons while shopping. In the next few weeks, Chrome will use AI technology to aggregate similar product information searched across different tabs. For example, when you are looking for a new Bluetooth speaker, this feature will display product specifications, features, prices, and ratings all in one place, even if the information is scattered across different pages.

One of the most practical updates is the ability to search browsing history via natural language queries. Sometimes users might remember some details but forget the visited pages. Google will roll out an AI-driven history search feature in the coming weeks, available as an optional feature for US users.

Google assures that the data used by these features will not be used for training Gemini and will not display any information from incognito browsing sessions. Currently, Chrome cannot process AI-driven search history locally, so it uses cloud services to return search results.

In January, Google introduced AI features including a writing assistant, tab manager, and theme creator. In May, Google launched an AI chatbot that allows users to mention Gemini directly from the address bar and ask questions.

These updates reflect Google's continuous efforts to leverage AI technology to enhance productivity, make information retrieval easier, and provide Chrome users with a more personalized and intuitive browsing experience.
