Amazon has recently released an upgraded version of its internally developed image generation AI model, Titan Image Generator, known as Titan Image Generator v2. This new model introduces several new features for customers using the AWS Bedrock AI generation platform.
According to AWS Principal Developer Advocate Channy Yun in a blog post,
Titan Image Generator v2 not only inherits all the features of v1 but also introduces many exciting new capabilities. For example, users can precisely control the creation content through image conditioning, providing a reference image and text prompt, the generated image will follow the layout and structure provided by the user. Additionally, users can control the color scheme of the generated images by simply providing a series of hexadecimal color codes.
It is worth mentioning that the background removal function has also been significantly improved, allowing users to easily remove backgrounds from images containing multiple objects, ensuring that the main objects are clearly displayed. Furthermore, users can maintain consistency for specific themes by fine-tuning the model, ensuring that the chosen objects naturally blend into different creative scenes, whether for brand promotion or family photos.
If you are interested in how to use Titan Image Generator v2, you can access these features through the Amazon Bedrock API, AWS SDK, or AWS Command Line Interface. The Amazon Titan Image Generator v2 is now live in the US East (Northern Virginia) and US West (Oregon) regions, with updates for more regions coming in the future.
However, Amazon has not disclosed the specific data used to train the Titan Image Generator model. Previously, Amazon told TechCrunch that it was a combination of proprietary and licensed data. In fact, many vendors are reluctant to disclose this information because training data is considered a competitive advantage, and the related information could lead to intellectual property lawsuits, hence they are cautious about this content.
In the absence of transparency, AWS has provided a compensation policy for customers in case the Titan model, such as Titan Image Generator v2, produces mirrored copies of possible copyrighted materials. This provides a certain level of protection for users using this technology.
In the recent second-quarter earnings call, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy expressed that he remains confident in generative AI technologies like AWS's Titan model, despite a waning enthusiasm from businesses and rising costs associated with training, fine-tuning, and serving models. "In the field of generative AI, it will develop rapidly and will mainly be built in the cloud in the future," he said.
