At the 28th Baidu Hackathon, Baidu's founder, chairman, and CEO, Robin Li, shared his unique insights with the younger generation.
He suggested that young people do not necessarily have to choose Artificial Intelligence (AI) as their major field of study. Robin Li believes that AI holds immense potential because it can profoundly impact almost every industry. Therefore, he encourages young people to follow their interests when choosing a major while also learning about AI-related knowledge.
It is reported that this season's Hackathon saw the emergence of over 250 innovative product ideas, covering six major innovation tracks including creation, entertainment, efficiency tools, information acquisition, industry intelligence, and exploring the future. These ideas included AI cameras, AI creative printers, AI assistants for sports event viewing, electronic pets, and more. They were all incubated by nearly a thousand employees from various departments at Baidu, such as research and development, operations, marketing, and business, within just three weeks using Baidu's AI development tools.
A panel of judges, including Baidu's founder, chairman, and CEO, Robin Li, engaged in in-depth discussions with the teams, exploring the pain points of the projects and their feasibility for implementation.
To date, the Hackathon has produced nearly 8,000 creative ideas, over 300 patents, and has incubated outstanding products such as smart translators, scenic area heat maps, and Nightingale (smart customer service). Robin Li emphasized during the event that although the path of innovation is full of challenges, Baidu always believes that technology can change the world and will continue to walk this path.
