According to Liz Reid, Vice President of Google Search, Google Lens now processes nearly 20 billion visual queries per month. Users can easily obtain AI-generated summaries by filming a video and asking questions. Simply press and hold the shutter button in the Google app and ask, and the system will analyze both the video and the question to provide concise answers.
Additionally, users can ask questions about any photo taken through Lens. This feature is available on both Android and iOS Google apps, although it currently only supports English queries.
To enhance the shopping experience, Lens's shopping capabilities have been strengthened. When users take photos of products, they will receive more detailed product information, including reviews, price comparisons, and purchase options. The new "Circle to Search" feature is even more convenient, allowing users to identify songs playing in videos, movies, or websites without switching apps.
In web search, Google has also launched a new AI-organized search results page in the United States, initially focusing on recipes and food queries on mobile devices.
With the introduction of these new features, Google plans to integrate advertisements into AI-generated summaries and Lens search results. This advertising feature is already active in the US and is planned to be expanded to other countries. Ads will be clearly marked as "sponsored," and shopping ads will also be displayed above and next to Lens visual search results, helping advertisers connect directly with users ready to buy.
It is noteworthy that Google has stated that the updated AI overview design, which has been tested, has been widely rolled out, and this new design is said to attract more traffic to relevant information sources, although specific data has not been disclosed.
