Global professional services firm Ernst & Young (EY) recently announced the establishment of the "EY.ai Global Artificial Intelligence Advisory Council," aimed at providing valuable insights into the advancements, social impact, and innovative applications of artificial intelligence (AI). The council's members include renowned computer scientist Professor Sarawagi from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.

Rakesh Kaul Punjabi, EY's AI Activation Leader, stated: "At EY, we are not only adapting to future AI technologies but actively shaping them to create meaningful impacts for our clients, employees, and communities." This council will assist EY professionals in exploring and guiding the forefront of AI, addressing emerging challenges, and promoting the application of technology.

The council will invite experts from business, government, and academia to provide consulting services across multiple fields, including customer experience, talent management, interpersonal behavior, and industry impact. The goal of the council is to drive the development and deployment of AI through emerging technologies, identify technological breakthroughs, and mitigate potential risks. Additionally, it will support EY professionals in helping clients effectively adopt AI, assess its applications in specific sectors, and drive organizational transformation.

Furthermore, the council is committed to leveraging AI to tackle global challenges such as climate change, healthcare, education, and bridging the digital divide, while ensuring equitable access for marginalized groups and reducing social risks. In September 2023, EY also launched the AI platform "EY.ai" and invested $1.4 billion to solidify its position as an AI-driven enterprise. Subsequently, on July 1, EY released its global strategy "All In."
