The announcement mentioned that WeChat is committed to creating a safe, healthy, and green online environment. In response to the recent phenomenon of using AI technology to impersonate celebrities for marketing, WeChat has swiftly taken action and seriously addressed a number of violations.

According to the announcement, WeChat has conducted special governance against improper marketing and malicious traffic solicitation using AI to impersonate well-known individuals, based on user reports and clues discovered during regular inspections. So far, WeChat has addressed a total of 532 pieces of violating content and closed 209 related accounts.

WeChat stated that it will continue to intensify its efforts to combat violations such as "using AI to impersonate celebrities for marketing and promotion" in the future, and enhance its technical governance capabilities to maintain a healthy platform ecosystem. Additionally, WeChat calls on users to consciously comply with laws and regulations and platform rules to jointly maintain a clear and orderly online environment. For behaviors that generate violating content using AI synthesis technology, WeChat encourages users to provide clues to enable the platform to effectively combat such actions.
