With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, the application of AI-generated text, images, and videos in various fields is becoming increasingly mature. However, this has also led to a crisis of trust, as the spread of false information poses a potential threat to society. To address this challenge, Tencent recently launched a brand new AI-generated content detection tool aimed at using AI technology to "combat fake AI".
This tool, developed by Tencent's Phoenix Lab, consists of two systems: AI-generated text detection and AI-generated image detection. Tencent officials pointed out that although AI-generated images appear more and more realistic, they still exhibit certain identifiable features. By quickly verifying uploaded images in a matter of seconds, users can determine whether the image was generated by AI.
In terms of detection logic, the system primarily distinguishes between real images and AI-generated images by capturing subtle differences. For example, AI-generated images may sometimes violate common sense logic or may require watermarks in certain cases. Additionally, AI-generated images may contain specific hidden features. To ensure the accuracy of detection, Tencent used 1.4 million positive and negative samples during model training, covering various scenes such as human bodies, landscapes, characters, and landmarks, ultimately achieving a detection rate of over 95%, with the system continuously being optimized.
For text detection, Tencent's detection system also relies on a large number of positive and negative samples for training, covering a variety of literary forms including news articles, official documents, novels, and essays. By comparing the detected text with predictions from large models, the system can estimate the probability that the text was generated by AI, thereby enhancing its ability to detect unseen data. In the future, Tencent plans to expand the text detection system to include other genres such as poetry to further improve recognition accuracy.
Through this innovative initiative, Tencent hopes to provide users with a safer and more trustworthy online environment, effectively countering the spread of false information and contributing to the healthy development of society.
