He highly praised the intelligence and ambition of Chinese engineers, believing that China has many outstanding engineers capable of creating remarkable products, and DeepSeek is one of them.
Musk pointed out that DeepSeek left a strong impression, but he did not view it as a revolutionary breakthrough in the field of AI. He stated that xAI (Musk's AI company) and other companies are rapidly advancing AI technology, and he expects new models that will outperform DeepSeek to be released soon.
Since its launch in December last year, DeepSeek, developed by the domestic large model company "Deep Exploration," has garnered widespread attention in the global AI field. The released DeepSeek-V3 model achieved performance comparable to top models like GPT-4 with extremely low training costs, a remarkable achievement that caught the industry's attention.
Subsequently, with the launch of the DeepSeek-R1 model, the DeepSeek application achieved significant success in the app stores of Apple in China and the United States. On January 27, the application successfully topped the free app download charts in both the Chinese and U.S. Apple app stores, even surpassing ChatGPT in the U.S. download rankings.
