Recently, Liang Wenfeng, the founder of DeepSeek, may become one of the top tech billionaires in Asia due to his success in the field of artificial intelligence. According to a survey by Bloomberg of several startup founders and AI experts, DeepSeek's valuation is expected to range between $1 billion and over $150 billion. This means that the 84% stake held by Liang Wenfeng could place him among the wealthiest tech tycoons in Asia.

Rudina Seseri, founder of the Boston-based venture capital firm Glasswing Ventures, stated that even under conservative estimates, DeepSeek, with its current revenue in the millions of dollars, could easily achieve a valuation in the billions. Furthermore, telecommunications company founder Chanakya Ramdev mentioned that DeepSeek's valuation could reach half of OpenAI's $300 billion valuation, which would elevate Liang Wenfeng's stake value to $126 billion, even surpassing the current NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang's net worth of $118 billion.

DeepSeek's valuation is primarily based on the market performance of several mainstream AI startups, such as Anthropic, founded by former OpenAI employees, which has reached a valuation of $60 billion; while Mistral AI, established by researchers from Google and Meta, has also achieved a valuation of $6 billion. Meanwhile, domestic company Zhiyun AI completed a new round of financing last year, achieving a valuation of 20 billion yuan.

It is worth noting that estimating Liang Wenfeng's wealth is not straightforward. DeepSeek has not accepted external financing and relies entirely on the profits from Liang Wenfeng's quantitative hedge fund "Phantom Quant" for support, which has allowed DeepSeek to maintain financial independence. Liang Wenfeng controls DeepSeek through a complex equity structure, directly holding 1% of its parent company's shares, while indirectly holding 84.3% through other investment institutions.
