Recently, the British artificial intelligence and robotics startup Humanoid unveiled its versatile humanoid robot HMND01 in a new video. This robot features a bipedal design that mimics human movement and actions, equipped with a head, torso, arms, and legs, and its five-fingered hands possess high-speed and precise manipulation capabilities, enabling it to perform complex tasks. This is made possible by the numerous high-torque and high-speed actuators it is equipped with.

Artemy Sokolov, the founder and serial entrepreneur of Humanoid, stated: “The greatest advantage of humanoid robots is that the world is designed to serve humans, allowing them to seamlessly integrate and quickly adapt to existing environments.” The HMND01 is an AI-driven next-generation labor automation unit, standing approximately 1.75 meters tall, weighing 70 kilograms, walking at a speed of 3.4 miles per hour, with an average endurance of 4 hours and a load capacity of 15 kilograms.

The robot's hardware and software feature a modular design, allowing customers to use different upper bodies, lower bodies, and end effector configurations as needed. Additionally, the HMND01 offers various protective covers to safeguard its systems and the surrounding environment. Humanoid plans to achieve large-scale commercial production of the HMND01 with a low total cost of ownership (TCO), with initial applications in industries such as goods handling, sorting, packaging, and component handling, and plans to expand into retail, manufacturing, logistics, and warehousing centers in the future.

The company announced that it will develop and test an alpha prototype with both wheeled and bipedal platforms this year, and it is currently in discussions with several retail companies regarding potential pilot projects. As market competition intensifies, electric vehicle manufacturers have begun to emerge in this field. Last year, Tesla launched its Optimus robot, which is set to be sold next year at a price of $25,000 to $30,000. Meanwhile, Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng has also introduced its humanoid robot Iron, which has already been deployed in the company's factory.

Additionally, Apple and Meta have been reported to be developing their own AI robots. Meta recently established a new tech team within its Reality Labs hardware division, while Apple is also exploring related technologies. Humanoid is committed to the belief that “humans and machines work alongside each other, not in competition, but in harmonious coexistence.” Sokolov stated: “This social shift will address issues such as labor shortages and aging populations while allowing people more freedom to focus on more creative and meaningful work.”
